The ESM-01: DTCP Embedded Security Module is a security core from the family of Embedded Security Modules and is targeted at off the shelf security functions such as DTCP (the Digital Transmission Content Protection) content protection technology licensed to implementers by the DTLA (the DTCP Licensing Authority).

The DTCP-IP security framework is designed to protect Home Entertainment related digital content such as high-definition movies, pay-per-view television or music against theft while the content is moved from a server onto the target device such as a PC, cell phone or gaming device. The standard was recently updated to support Blu-Ray DVD players and wireless high-definition and is now the cornerstone content protection technology used by the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MOCA) and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) for secure distribution of high value or premium digital content.
